Challenge Course & Ropes Activities

Challenge Course & Ropes Activities

You can do it! We believe in you.

  • The Challenge Course, Team Building, and High Ropes Activities are facilitated by trained instructors from the McDowell Environmental Center and need to be requested and reserved several weeks in advance and depend on the availability of trained staff. Teambuilding without the below courses can be for all ages.
  • Liability forms are required for all activities.

Challenge Course

The Challenge Course is tucked in the woods across the street from the Chapel of St. Francis and is for 5th graders and up. Groups are facilitated through several low-level trust and team-building elements by trained staff. This is popular and effective for most age groups as a "just-for-fun" or team-building activity.

High Ropes Activities

Our three high ropes course elements are located around the perimeter of the Softball Field across from the Welcome Center. The Climbing Wall is for 5th grade and up, Trust Swing is for 5th grade and up, and the Power Pole is for 7th grade and up. Each activity is led by trained and seasoned instructors.

The Climbing Wall allows guests to experience the exhilaration of achieving the feat of climbing a 40-foot rock wall while being encouraged by their peers. At the Trust Swing, participants are raised to their desired height and swing between two poles/cables for an exhilarating giant swing experience. Guests challenge themselves on the Power-Pole by climbing 25 feet, standing on top, and jumping off to ring a bell.
